A Little More About Taco Bell

So I received an email on Friday from “Oscar.” Oscar built and maintains the Website Tbellnation. Tbellnation is intened to “chronicle the experiences of Taco Bell eaters around the world.” Their goal is to “locate and register 1,000,000 T-Bell Nation Members.”

Overall, I’m impressed with Oscar’s dedication to Taco Bell and the fine commodity they’ve provided to people around the world since March 21, 1962. I particulary found the flog entertaining, and plan to chronicle my own sampling of each of Taco Bell’s menu items. Although I rarely order anything other than tacos or nachos, I realize I should really try more of their offerings. Download your own flog worksheet here.

Aside from the T-Bell Challenge, the site promotes artwork by artist “MCTaco.” MCTaco’s artwork is impressive. I’ve posted a couple of the images, but you can see more here. My favorite is MC Taco’s interpretation of the lovable “E.T.”

Also, I’ve seen a couple of notable Taco Bells in the past few weeks. Three weeks ago I was in Los Angeles, where my friends Dan, Andre and I spotted the one of the old, original Taco Bell designs. We ate tacos out front and snapped a photo or two.

A few days later while attending my cousin’s wedding in Fort Collins, Colorado, I spotted a newer Taco Bell inside an old house. I’m so unhappy that I was unable to photograph it, but looking in from the outside, the original house was in tact, but through the windows, where a living room should’ve been was Taco Bell seating. The original wood door was in place, and wood shingles covered the roof. In the back of the house however, there was a newer Taco Bell structure added on, with the normal Taco Bell entrance. I think the Taco Bell House was on College? In any case, pretty unique and made me appreciate Fort Collins. I know, I know, sounds like a dream house.

Oswald, needing a Taco Bell fix…

Did you ever notice how racist the old logo was? It’s a guy sleeping with a sombrero on. I take offense to the “lazy” attitude shown here by Taco Bell. I have lot’s of Hispanic janitors and they are very hard workers. I would protest Taco Bell if their food wasn’t so delicious. And they did change their logo.

Speaking of Taco Bell. The cheesy gordita crunch is the best fucking thing I’ve ever tasted. If they yank it from the menu again I am going to rage.
