All we’re watching this season is what was previously on 24. Joel Surnow and crew need to fire themselves. I was so looking forward to this season and so far, it’s been nothing but a let down. Uh, let’s see, Jack Bauer takes a foreign embassy by storm. Day 4. Um, how about the Vice President invokes the 25th Amendment and holds a cabinet vote to oust President Palmer. Day 2. A nuclear weapon explodes on US soil. Day 2. Someone is in a tricky situation and the only way out is to chop off a hand. Day 3. Jack Bauer is Dead! Days 1 - 6. Someone is wrongfully racially profiled. Days 1 - 6.
Not only are the writers recycling storylines, they’re reaching for others that make no sense. Jack Bauer’s dad involved in the nuclear explosion? Only for the first three episodes to try to “wow” us. President Palmer’s going to die, but only for a couple of episodes. And the biggest storyline on 24 this week is whether or not we initiate a nuclear strike on “Fayed’s country,” aka “the ambassador’s country” aka “the Prime Minister’s country.” I’m sick of watching cabinet discussions, top-secret national security discussions and CTU strategies and not seeing one person mention the name of the country we’re about to destroy. Make up a country name if you must, but please quit purposefully avoiding mentioning what country we’re bombing.
I finally caught up on 24, watching 4 episodes on Sunday because I was a tad hung over from the Flach’s birthday camping weekend. I have to agree with you Jeremy. The writers can’t figure out what to do except write the same story and switch it half way through the season. Did anyone really think Audrey was dead? What about Jack’s dad? Where is he in all of this? The president is brought out of a coma to be lucid and make solid decisions? The biggest disappointment is the casting of Mylo. He should be a college Fraternity boy instead of a lead CTU agent. Does anyone buy him as a plausible character? Why, because of 15 hair goat tee? They need to kill off Jack Bauer once and for all next season, or bring Kim back to take over…as a stripper crime fighter. That I could buy.
